PITTA

Foods To Eat: 

  • Poultry in small amounts including egg whites, tofu, milk and butter

Red meat, seafood, egg yolk, cheese, buttermilk, sour fruits (such as grapes, cherries and papaya), beetroots, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, millets, brown rice, almonds, cashews, pine nuts, walnuts, sesame seeds and pistachios.

VATA

Foods To Eat

  • Small amounts of poultry, tofu and seafood.
  • Dairy products such as yoghurt, cheese, ghee, butter and milk.
  • Fruits including bananas, blueberries, ripe and sweet fruits, grapefruit, strawberries, peaches and plums.
  • Vegetables such as sweet potatoes, onions, turnips, green beans, carrots and radishes.
  • Nuts and seeds such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, chia seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds.
  • Spices such as ginger, cumin, cardamom, cloves, oregano, black pepper, and thyme.

Foods To Avoid

Red meat, dried and unripe fruits, cranberries, pomegranates, pears, raw vegetables, cabbage, cauliflower, mushrooms, potatoes, and tomatoes, black beans, kidney beans, barley, wheat, corn, millet, and coriander seeds.

KAPHA

Foods To Eat

  • Small amounts of poultry, seafood, egg whites.
  • Goat milk, soy milk, or skim milk.
  • Fruits such as apples, pears, pomegranate, and dry fruits such as figs, raisins, and prunes.
  • Vegetables such as leafy greens, onions, potatoes, radishes, okra, and mushrooms.
  • Legumes such as black beans, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, and small amounts of pumpkin seeds.
  • Herbs such as cumin, black pepper, cinnamon, basil, oregano, turmeric, and thyme.

Foods To Avoid

  • Red meat, egg yolks, shrimp, coconuts, mangoes, figs, bananas, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, soybeans, kidney beans, rice, wheat, cooked cereal, cashews, pine nuts, sesame seeds, and walnuts.
